Mayor & Council
The City of Castlegar is governed by a Mayor and six Councillors, elected at large for a four-year term under British Columbia’s Local Government Act. The current term runs 2023 to 2026, with the next general local election on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Role of Council
Council meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Forum, #101 to 445 13th Avenue. Committee of the Whole meets the same days at 3:00 p.m. Meetings are open to the public in person and broadcast on Zoom. Council is responsible for the governance and well-being of the City, including:
