Council has released the proposed 2026 to 2030 Financial Plan for community input. Council will finalize tax rates after receiving the revised assessment roll from BC Assessment. For specific rate details, see the published Financial Plan PDF.
Context on your tax bill
Municipal taxes are only one portion of the total property tax bill. The total amount also includes provincial school tax, regional district levies, and hospital district charges.
Budget highlights
- Implementation of the 2026 to 2028 Organizational Plan to boost operational efficiency
- Major upgrades to the South Sewage Treatment Plant North Train Renewal project
- Development of a new Parks Master Plan
- Completion of Brandson Memorial Park construction
- Citizen survey on service-level preferences
- Completion of the Accessory Dwelling Unit Program for affordable housing
- Continued Fire Services Review implementation
- Next Generation 911 (NG911) service rollout
- Continued airport terminal building design and construction start
Director of Finance & Technology Steffan Klassen noted: “City departments worked collaboratively to develop this year's draft budget, identifying efficiencies and savings.”
Public input opportunities
An open house is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Forum, 445 13th Avenue. The session is available in person and via Zoom, with a staff presentation at 5:30 p.m.
