About five minutes

Voyent Alert is the system the City uses to push emergency information directly to residents in real time. Sign-up takes about five minutes and asks for a postal code plus an email or phone number. You pick how you want to receive alerts: app, text, email, or voice call.

Active emergency right now? Always call 9-1-1 for fire, ambulance, or police. Voyent is for awareness; 9-1-1 is for response.

Voyent only fires when something genuinely changes for your address. If an alert isn’t relevant to where you live (or to the other locations you registered, like work or a family member’s address), you don’t get pinged.

Wildfire evacuations

Alerts, orders, and rescind notices, often the first reliable signal you'll get.

Boil-water notices

Water-quality advisories with the safety steps the City wants you to follow.

Severe weather

Extreme heat, winter storms, high wind, and other weather hazards.

Major road closures

Never used for marketing. Voyent is only used for situational awareness and public-safety events. The City doesn’t send promotional content or share your contact info.

Section 2 of 3, how it worksBuilt for your address, not just the city

1Register your address. You provide a postal code plus an email or phone number. You can register multiple locations (home, work, family addresses) under one account.
2Pick how you want to hear. Mobile app, SMS, email, voice call. Mix as many as you want, and use different channels for different locations if that makes sense.
3Alerts arrive only when relevant. When the City issues a Voyent alert, the system sends it only to addresses inside the affected area, with maps, visuals, and direct instructions for what to do next.
4Opt out any time. Unsubscribe links are in every email and you can manage your preferences inside the app or on the Voyent website.

Visiting Castlegar? You can register even without a Castlegar address by entering the city name or any address inside the city. Useful if you have family here, work here part-time, or are travelling through during fire season.

Sign up before you need it. Voyent does the most good when it’s already on your phone the day a wildfire moves or a water main breaks. Five minutes now beats scrambling for information later.
