The City of Castlegar has issued a Water Quality Advisory as a precautionary measure while testing its backup water supply. The advisory remains in effect until rescinded.
What this advisory means
There is some level of risk associated with consuming the drinking water, but a Boil Water Notice is NOT required. Most residents will not notice any change in taste, pressure, or appearance.
Reasons for the advisory
Water Quality Advisories may be issued for a range of reasons, including routine maintenance on the water supply system and turbidity (water cloudiness).
At-risk groups
The following residents face elevated risk and may wish to take additional precautions, such as boiling water for one minute before drinking:
- People with weakened immune systems or chronic illnesses
- Infants and young children
- Older adults
- Anyone seeking additional protection
