A 35 km ridgeline traverse across seven peaks of the Rossland Range. IMBA Epic-rated. Bucket-list for mountain bikers. Castlegar is the home base.

Seven Summits is widely considered one of the finest ridgeline singletrack rides in North America. It climbs and connects seven named peaks across the Rossland Range, traversing alpine meadows, exposed ridgelines, and hand-built singletrack that threads between them. The entire ride is roughly 35 kilometres with significant elevation gain and technical sections.
The trail was built and is maintained by the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society (KCTS). It's an IMBA Epic, a designation reserved for rides that offer exceptional backcountry singletrack experience, one of a short list in Canada.
Most riders tackle Seven Summits as a point-to-point shuttle from Nancy Greene Lake (west) to the Cascade Highway exit (east), closer to the Castlegar side of the range. From there, most roll into Castlegar for food, a hot shower, and a cold drink. The city's restaurants, lodging, and riverside vibe make it the natural basecamp for the West Kootenay end of the ride, and most out-of-town riders end the day with their feet in the Columbia.
If you're coming in from Vancouver or Calgary, the West Kootenay Regional Airport (YCG) puts you within 20 minutes of the eastern trailhead.

The smart approach for first-timers
Shuttle: local outfitters based in Rossland and Castlegar run commercial shuttles during the summer season. Plan ahead; spots fill on peak weekends.
Food post-ride: downtown Castlegar has a handful of restaurants that cater specifically to post-ride riders. Ask at the trailhead or at the Visitor Centre for current recommendations.
Lodging: hotels and motels in Castlegar range from budget to mid-range. Several cater to cyclists (bike washing, secure storage). Rossland also has options closer to the western trailhead.
Yes, though the full 35 km traverse is a long day for most hikers. Many hikers choose sections of the trail (e.g., summiting a single peak as an out-and-back) rather than the full through-hike. Check the KCTS site for specific segment descriptions and access points.
