What's in the pipeline. If something near you is on the list, here's how to weigh in.
The City publishes active development applications on castlegar.ca, typically organized by application type and address. Council meeting agendas also include staff reports on current applications, with all supporting materials available for review.
If an application affects you or your neighbourhood, you have several ways to be heard, all of them genuinely on the record. Council is required to hear public input on rezonings and OCP amendments before voting, and written comments submitted to the Director of Corporate Services are added to the meeting package even if you don’t attend.
For major applications (rezonings, OCP amendments), the City is required to notify nearby property owners in writing and post public notice. If you receive a notice in the mail about an application, take it seriously and read the materials.
See Development Approvals for an overview of how applications progress from submission through to decision.
