Aim for 24 to 48 hours of lead time. Book earlier in busy seasons (spring and summer construction).
Heads up
Don't cover work that needs inspecting
The exact list depends on the project type. For most residential builds, expect:
Make the work accessible. Have the permit and approved plans on site. If the inspector can't access the work or finds it incomplete, you may need to rebook (and possibly pay a re-inspection fee depending on the circumstances).
The inspector either approves the stage or notes deficiencies that need correcting before re-inspection. Approval is your green light to move on to the next phase, cover the work, pour the concrete, hang the drywall. Final approval is required before the project is officially complete, and for applicable projects before anyone moves in.
