The long-range planning documents that shape what gets built, where, and when. Eighteen plans on file, covering everything from water mains to wildfire to the cemetery.
A master plan is a long-range strategy document that guides decisions in a specific area of City work, water infrastructure, downtown development, parks, transportation, and so on. Each one carries a vision statement, an assessment of current conditions, and a list of actions the City has committed to working through over time.
The list below is unusually long for a city Castlegar’s size, which is intentional. The City uses these plans to make capital and budget decisions defensible and consistent across Council terms.
The City's Official Community Plan is documented separately as Bylaw 1427 (Community Plan) under the Planning section, alongside Bylaw 1428 (Zoning).
For questions about specific master plans, contact the relevant department (Civic Works for asset management plans, Development Services for planning documents, Communications for the Communications Plan).
